Future Directions
The aim of this podcast is to give listeners a better understanding of current research happening in STEM, with every episode focusing on a specific field (or subfield). Discussions with experts will be about current techniques for collecting data, innovative techniques being developed, and where research in the field is going in the near future. This website has been created by Dr. Kimberly Jackson of Spelman College as a way of highlighting the scholarship and academic programs for diversifying STEM. Through research, advocacy, and education, the website displays achievements and involvement of Black women in STEM.
School Garden Resources
Gardening can be the perfect way to learn about biology, healthy cooking and eating, sustainability, urban planning, teamwork, mindfulness, creativity, and so much more! If opening a class and/or school garden sounds interesting to you, click here for suggestions from UGA Extension on getting started, building curriculums for grades K-8, learning about sustainability, and receiving money to fund the garden.
Atlanta Botanical Gardens Events
The Atlanta Botanical Gardens puts on many events throughout the Fall that involve gardening, floral design, drawing/coloring nature art, and cooking homemade pie! Take a look at all of the options here. Note that each event costs money.

Zoo Atlanta: Keeper for the Day
Are you 14-years-old or older? Do you love wild life? Are you interested in learning about the behind-the-scenes care of zoo animals? If so, check out the Keeper for the Day opportunities throughout the Fall. You have the chance to sign up for any of the program options including Birds and Reptiles, Elephants and Carnivores, Giant Panda, and Show Birds and Animal Ambassadors. Note that the cost of each program varies in cost from $215-$1500, which includes a t-shirt, lunch, activities, and Zoo admission. Learn more information and register here.
Georgia Aquarium: School Programs
If you are looking for exciting educational events for your youth groups, camps, classrooms, birthday parties, clubs, or other groups you may be in, go to the aquarium! From August to May, there are opportunities for students in grades K-12 to sign up for instructor-led or general admissions. The instructor-led option has programs created for each grade, with multiple topics options that differ for each grade. Georgia Aquarium: Professional Development
Educators of grades 6-12 are invited to join NOAA OER staff to learn about the importance of exploring the ocean, technology used for ocean exploration, and recent deep-sea discoveries. You will have the chance to be involved in hands-on activities and other resources that can be used in your classroom lessons. Some topics that will be covered include ocean health, underwater habits, mapping areas underwater, and driving remotely-operated vehicles. Learn more about the event and register here.
